1Yesterday I attended the funeral of a friend's father, age 83, who died in his sleep earlier in the week. At the funeral home they showed a mix of still photos & home video clips that visually covered the man's entire life. It seemed very fitting, appropriate & in good taste. What photograph should be shown at someone's funeral?
2The US Lincoln-head penny has been in circulation since 1909, which marked the centennial anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth.Useless trivia!
3The boys are less than a year apart in age. The youngest just turned 8.
The reason age was brought up = in the photo, the child was sitting at the edge of the chair. With his leg extended, it looked like a long reach to the footrest (uncomfortable?).
Essay Time! What are your thoughts?
4As a kid I saw plenty of sci-fi thrillers -- my dad was a movie projectionist.
Ever see "The Screaming Skull"?
the 1968 original "Night of the Living Dead"?
"The Thing that Wouldn't Die"?
Some of them are on YouTube.
Have you ever seen the low-budget sci-fi thriller They Live?
5I like to hear myself above the sound of the streaming water. And the echo in there is fabulous! The neighbors next door have never complained -- or called the cops. I guess they like my repertoire.
I often wonder why people can't resist breaking out into song when they're stark naked. Do birds sing in the birdbath?
Would anyone hear you if you sang in your shower?
6Golf is like bowling. People always ask, "How's your game?"
It becomes a professional sport when there's money to be made.
Why else would Tiger be chasing the little white ball around?
Is golf a game or a sport?
7All that you've listed are tasty indeed, but what about...
peaches, pears, papayas, mangos, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, tangerines, grapefruit, plums?
Technically, a tomato is a fruit too, but that seems to go better with vegetables.
Fruit Salad!!!
8I like that distinct, outdoorsy taste cooked over the coals -- besides, all the fat drips off into the fire. (Chicken and pork is good on the grill too.) Cooked in a skilled, a hamburger's just a hamburger... like eating at McDonald's.Do you prefer the taste of burgers on the grill over cooked on a skillet?
9Since Survey Central is an international entity, I won't mention the specific country I was in. But I went to an outdoor market in a major eastern European city and was approached by a shady high-pressure salesman. He must've figured I was either British, Canadian or an American, since he spoke to me in English.
I responded to him in pig-latin, "et-gay ost-lay ister-may".
Confounded, he quick rattled off 'Do you speak...' phrases in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian. And I played dumb, like I didn't understand what he was saying.
As a tourist in a foreign country did you ever feel that you had been "ripped off"?
10I've watched it a few times, but it's rather dull. The premise on the contestant choosing the right case amounts to a lucky crapshoot -- no real mental skill involved. Besides, the bit where Howie Mandell is conferring on the phone is corny. Have you ever watched the show Deal or No Deal?
