I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, it's "common knowledge" that concerts are loud. It's hard to believe, with his studies of music, that he did not realize this. On the other hand, his greatest love, fine music, is now lost to tinnitus because of the only rock concert he ever attended. Should that kind of damaging volume be produced without even a warning at the gates? Other 'noisy' industries require hearing protection ...Are sound levels at rock concerts too high?
The special I saw on this didn't mention the earplugs, but they are mentioned in the suit. He's in fact suing the manufacturer, too:

The father said in the interview (60 Minutes?) that he 'took his son to' the concert, so he made it seem like he was in there the whole time with him. I can't find more info either way, though.

I in fact was talking with someone about umami yesterday, we were discussing if taste buds changed with age. It turns out that babies have taste buds all over their mouths, not just the tongue. The baby's buds have trouble with 'salty'. Taste buds die and grow back every week or so. As we age, the other taste buds (other than on the tongue) stop growing back ... we end up with very few buds left on the soft palate of the mouth. Most are now just on the tongue. On the 'up' side, we can now taste salty. It isn't until around age 75 or so that the buds start not-growing-back and we begin to lose taste ability.Do you know what "Umami" is?
I don't even have a small guess, I don't know anything about either.Who do you think should have won : Evander Holyfield or Lennox Lewis ?
I agree completely with doom on the last point. People who are vocal about wanting change should work and vote for that change. I am all for slowing population growth and for saving habitat for animals. I actively vote, lobby, and donate money for these causes. If all the people I've met who said "I'm with you, I believe the way you do" actually got off their butts and did something, the progress we could make would be incredible. Educating our fellow humans is far more practical than waiting for a virus to come kill them off.Dilemma : A man currently serving life in jail for the murder of 20 people finds a cure for AIDs. However, he says he will only reveal the cure if he is released from jail and not monitored. What do you do ?
I have too many friends with skin cancer, I actively avoid the sun. Also, my grandparents' skin was really leathery because they worked outside. I hope to avoid their fate.If you use a tanning bed, do you...?
North79, you should watch Fiddler on the Roof sometime, you'll relate to Tevye's songs. The worry about change going 'too far' is an eon-old one. One solution is to work for positive change. Change itself is inevitable.Do you think gay couples/unmarried heterosexuals should be allowed to adopt children ?
When I was a Kelly Girl I was tested at 120 - 140; I would guess I'm still around 110 or so. I do a lot of writing (on the computer) on the side so that helps.

There must be a site on the web that will test this ...

I found the UkiahSoft one to be 'too low' - it depends how fast you can get to the mouse, and the sentence is very short. Try this one, it seems to be more accurate:
