A nice meal, buy something nice, or something else. Or nothing. But major accomplishments, I tend to at least have a celebratory dinner. How do you celebrate your accomplishments?
I'm working very part-time as a freelancer, so there's no security at all.How secure is your job?
I'm being a little more careful about washing my hands or using hand sanitizer when I've been out of the house. I'm not hugely worried about it now, although this past spring when it first started going around I got pretty freaked out about it.Are you taking any extra precautions to prevent swine flu?
A middle-school yearbook photo. What photograph should be shown at someone's funeral?
Any of these can work well in the right circumstances.Which of these special effects do you prefer in a movie?
I don't know. I haven't used eBay in ages and I don't feel like looking it up.What is your eBay feedback rating score?
I have no idea.Given that it may vary from child to child, neighborhood to neighborhood, and who they are with, at what general age in years should children be allowed to go out into the community and play unsupervised by a guardian?
I don't think so. I'm sure there are cases where a relationship works fine without the people in it being in love. I suppose that, if you want to be technical, a non-romantic friendship is also a relationship, and those work better if the people aren't in love. But I'm assuming you meant romantic relationships. Is being "in love" necessary for a relationship to "work"?
I used to think of that early-relationship obsession as "in love," too. (A friend and I refer to it as the ga-ga-mush-brain stage.) But as I've gotten older, and been in a relationship for longer, I think that the love and attachment that I feel now is much more true to being "in love." Maybe deeply loving someone and being in love are the same thing. Is being "in love" necessary for a relationship to "work"?
God, I hope that didn't sound too sanctimonious!

I agree that fiction makes being "in love" out to be what I think is really being "in lust." I have a couple of friends who I think have completely unrealistic expectations about love and relationships as a result.

I don't think I'm especially great at relationships, either, but I like to think I'm learning. I'm getting better at handling the "downs" and appreciating the "ups." Those times when you can stop and notice how great it is are pretty awesome!
