i dont think we need people to give us money, i'm sure julie will say the same later. the problem is not so much with the depressed economic situation here as with our innability to budget. payday comes and when the checks finally get written and ready to get sent out 3 or 4 days later, theres not enough money top cover them. this is because instead of sending them right away, it gets put off and then we go out to eat, maybe get a movie, buy too much beer, or whatever. we just need to adjust to the fact we cant go out or spend money on dumb stuff like we used to.
that said, colorado is just a tough place compared to wisconsin. everything is expensive here and wages are much lower. i guess people here are used to living that way. its just a rich people state. i continue to move up, weve been here since spring and i'm starting my 3rd job monday. i'll be making $14 an hour, which is a record high wage for me. i was just making $9 as an apprentice electrician. i'll actually be getting benefits and insurance with the new job (dish network installer) which are things unheard of around here. anyway we should be fine in a few weeks.
we were paying like $200 a month for noah to go to school, another problem (no free kindergarten here - republican state. well, there are like 6 free slots for like 50 kids, and there are doled out by the 'good-ol-boy' system of who you know), but when we presented the school with a detailed list of attendance hours proving that they were grossly overcharging us, we got a call later saying 'guess what, we just got a new ffree slot, so you dont have to pay anymore'. so that is helpful. i also just borrowed $300 from my g-parents.
as for the snow argument - this place is just a high desert. its nothing at all like wisconsin. if it snows here, its gone and melted the next day (unless you are 10,000 feet up on a ski slope). its not really cold here, and doesnt snow much compared to the north. it was 80 degrees yesterday...
why are we here?
my grandparents are elederly, and living alone way up in the mountains. they havent seen their great grandson much. my daughters are here and need a father. my aunt and cousin are here and they need friends and support.
julie has her own reasons.
i've got plenty of photos, in fact i just hiked some cliffs yesterday and took photos of this 'town' from another 1000 feet up. i dont know how to post pictures here anymore though.
