At first, it appeared confusing....as their were five replies on my first page and they didn't have a survey ajoining them so I was a bit lost. First, I thought all five replies were from the same survey...but a survey post did not appear. I was cautious to enable anything for fear I would lose the replies...as happened in the old system, i believe. But, after a few moments...it all straightened out (I think).

Patarnone: In my opinion, chat rooms are for prattling adolescent conversations with multiple users, giggling and.. what have you. We are all entitled to our own opinions, especially when we are speaking from personal experience...but there is a certain responsibility each of us has when factual matters are tossed around, and information being blantantly incorrect. When necessary, I correct what I can. If you have specific questions, please ask and I will be happy to reply.

Southern Yankee: I did not say you could not become infected with the HIV virus from practicing unprotected anal sex but...I will use Patarnone's words...it has nothing to do with poop, which does not mean that poop (oh God * rolls eyes * ) couldn't put you at risk for other conditions...such as Hep A (not B,or C) and intestinal ameboic dysentaries. And Sex Star ? Are you in high school? I have no idea the ages people are who try to respond to these serious matters where accuracy saves lives.

southernyankee: It doesn't matter how much bleeding is occuring if there is not a portal of entrance. Please remember that. I do not know what you are trying to say in the rest of your post but I sense it is not accurate. Please, please become educated in HIV/Hep transmission as these viruses are gaining strength and resistance to several medications. I pray you are not an IV drug user or practice unsafer sex, as you are not equipped with the knowledge it takes to keep you (or your partner) safe! There are hundreds of web sites with accurate information. Please. look into them. You could save a life...and your own!

southernyankee: HIV lives in four bodily fluids, can be transmitted through the exchange of four bodily fluids into the blood stream (not the urethra [the ureter travels from kidney to bladder] like that silly girl/boy stated) of an HIV - individual possibly (but not always) causing a seroconversion. Fecal matter is not one of those bodily fluids. I am not going to tell you what they are as you should research this yourself...it is too important! It is 2005 and how can you not know these basics that I, a mere chef, knows. This is very sad, indeed. * frown * You are in need of a formal education!

patarnone: * rolls eyes * In all my years involved in the IV drug culture, the number of AIDS cases or deaths has grown, but nowhere near the unsafe sex anal fecal contamintation via unprotected sex cases. Once the rectum is compromised, anything can enter the body cavity. Conversely, when the penis repetedly pushes up against a compacted mass of "poop" I can not see how getting some foreign material up the ureter can be avoided.

*You can't be serious! Fecal matter can cause the transmission of Hep A....not the HIV virus. You need to research this a little bit longer, my dear. And there are more 'people...gay/straight/whatever.. who put themselves at risk sexually than there are IV drug users (at least in this country)...so of course the statistics seems disproportionate . You need to scale the population to ensure accurate statistic. (pushes up against poop, good one) God!! * rolls eyes *

southernyankee: Ok, the thing with fecal matter does actually make sense. * rolls eyes * From you, this is no surprise to me.

I must agree with Romkey, to some degree. In the mid to late 1960's a generation of former beatniks became hippies and the summer of love exploded into a sexual circus...most likely due to the use of drugs. Just listen to the songs of that era and all of the references to drugs/love/sex...yet AIDS (which is really only translated into a deficent immune system) was unheard of...at least publically. And there have been other periods of time associated with drug use...Jazz musicians, Vietnam vets...to name a few, and does this 'drug use' explanation include alcohol? If not, then why? Xannax and alcohol have the same physiological affect on the body. And how does Africa and Asia fit into this mix ? I truly believe...in any era....the use of drugs ( consistantly ) damages the bodys natural immune system ( but so do antibiotics, and anti-organ rejection medications), no matter how you look at it. Now, having said that...there are certain drugs in the gay culture that are more closely related to uninhibited sexual behavior than others but feeling sexual is a normal, healthy feeling and if you are feeling off base, internally homophobic or too critical of yourself...you may ingest these drugs to ward of the bad feelings and illuminate the good feelings. But if this isn't done naturally, then it is chemically induced and the issue is never addressed. I believe certain drugs in the gay culture give the illusion of 'feeling' normal...which may lead to increased use...damaging a healthy immune system...allowing a virus (HIV) to infiltrate. I believe it is just that simple, biggles.
