Okay, I'm changing my vote in that survey. You ARE God. Thanks again! | Pooh_Bear

Pooh_Bear is good. Thanks a lot for your help - anything you can do to remove my old name would be greatly appreciated, but don't kill yourself.
Thanks again. | Pooh_Bear

Bill,
Thanks for responding. I'm annoyed at myself that I wasn't aware of the whole "public forum" thing. I think I would like to change my id so that I don't end up censoring myself. If available, any variation of Winnie the Pooh would do (e.g. Winnie, Winnie_the_Pooh, Pooh_Bear). Just not "Pooh". Would this change all records or just those going forward? Also, if I put a note in the forum saying that my name has changed, does that get indexed? I know I'm sounding super paranoid, but I just want to know up front. Thanks. | Pooh_Bear

Bill,
I had no idea that survey central was searchable by the major search engines. Is it possible have my comments ommitted from being indexed or change my user id, so that it's not my name? Reading all my comments can paint a pretty good picture of who I am, where I live and other things and I'd rather not have that readily available to the public. I never thought those comments would be available to people outside this community. While I realize anyone can join this community, it's still smaller than the entire internet world that can search my name.
Thanks. |

Fair enough. Thanks for taking to time to answer my thoughts/questions. This has been helpful. | Pooh_Bear

One other thought...what if going through qualification was a probationary thing? Users with less than 10 created surveys must go through qualification. After that, they can direct publish, with qualification as an option. That way new users can get the help they need while existing users can get their surveys published without unnecessary interference. | Pooh_Bear

Unfortunately, I do agree that qualification can be a hostile place for new or existing users. I am probably guilty of some hostility myself. Perhaps the very idea of critiquing/editing someone else brings that out.
Anyway, I also find that HF votes are given simply because someone "didn't like" the survey. I realize that one HF vote means nothing, but that may start a chaing reaction, giving other users who are waffling "permission" to vote HF. In that past, those surveys would simply have been hidden by the user, but the survey would survive.
I don't know. I wasn't around for awhile, so I don't know how bad the surveys got and why a qualification period was enacted in the first place. I do think that it can be constructive and beneficial (e.g., getting more people's ideas for options), but more often than not, things are held up or deleted for the wrong reason. |

Congratulations! Be true to yourself. I hope things don't stay "weird" for too long. |

Being relatively new to the qualification process (it wasn't around last time I hung out here), what are the standards for Hopelessly Flawed, Needs Work and Nitpick votes? Do I mark something HF if I don't like the survey or only if the question/options are beyond fixing? Also, are grammar/spelling/spacing issues a "Needs Work" or a "Nitpick" vote? Any guidance would be much appreciated. There seems to be a wide range to why people vote the way they do. |
