Being bi-sexual and a crossdresser I have had sex partners with both men and women,I love my wife but would not rule out marrying a man if he treated me like I want to be treated and buy me the sexy clothes I like to wear(Pantyhose, highheels etc.) | llamamama

Checking IMDB, and, hmm. Gloucester? Huh, I could've sworn he was born in Wales. Maybe he just moved there when he was a kid or something, because there is a distinct bit of Welsh in his accent (an accent I picked up mainlining season 1 of Torchwood ICYWW).

Okay..so he's not a bigot. He's no more a bigot than the right wingers he claims are bigots. The fact of the matter is, most people are not bigots.
So, if we're bigots because we're using the example that wicksy said..then we're all bigots..But if we're using the one that says that you hate everything that you don't agree with..Then almost no one is a bigot, right?
Meaning then that Frosty is not a bigot, nor am I, nor are you, no one is a bigot. The politically right are not bigots. There are some that are, sure. And there are some left wingers that are. But political ideloogy does not determine how likely you are to be a bigot. How narrow your mind is determines how likely you are to be a bigot. And of course, he could say that right wingers have a very narrow mind..Which is fine. One could argue he has one too because he doesn't want to even consider the other side.
But yes, I rescind the accusation of him being a bigot. | cloudhugger

Simon Pegg doesn't sound particularly Welsh to me - I certainly don't pick up any elements of a South Wales accent, which is what you're likely to hear in Torchwood (as it's filmed in Cardiff). The North Wales accent can be harder to pin-down, but I'm fairly familiar with it as I heard it a lot when I lived in Liverpool (and it has a lot in common with the Scouse accent), and I don't hear anything like that in Pegg's accent either. To my ear, it's a fairly generic British accent, but with a London element to it (though I couldn't pin it down any further than that). I'm not sure what a Gloucester accent would be, but it's probably not that dissimilar to an Oxford accent and there certainly aren't strong traces of that in his accent either. | southernyankee

I guess we can all have fun with the definition of what qualifies as a bigot or not. Are all conservatives who are against gay marriage bigots. No, off course not. The majority of them probably have gay friends, many of the support rights to hospital visits and what not. But there are bigots against gays out there, plenty of them.
What about people who are opposed to interracial marriages. Does that mean they hate people of different races than themselves? Well, a lot of them do, but some of them are just separatists. Then you also have your non-hateful supremacists (eg: white or asian guys who think blacks and hispanics are dumb, but feel bad for them instead of actually hating them). There are so many nuances and dimensions to bigotry its really hard to measure. For instance, is LJD a bigot. Probably not. Just REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hates freedom.
And certainly, the abolitionists had very negative opinions towards slave owners back in 1850's. Were they bigots towards slave owners? | Frostbrand

Uh, have you been paying any attention to my posts at all? I have considered their side. That's why I hate them. I have said this time and time again. I hate the Right Wing because I know them. I read their books, and their blogs, watch their TV. I despise them because they are despicable, not because they "simply disagree with me" which is the false meme you are trying to push here.

Everyone!
The whole nation, except for people that are extremely left are bigots!!!! People who are not to the extreme left have narrow minds and commit adultery far more than those that are to the left!!
Are you serious, Frosty? Serious? Why don't you try to say that with a straight face..because I really had no problem saying mine with a straight face. Do you realize how stupid that all sounds?
I don't need to consider the other side because I don't blatantly hate left wingers. I myself am pretty much in the middle. I am perfectly willing to accept other people's sides as their views.
You are not. You wan to constantly tell the person that they are wrong instead of just excepting it.
If you want them to agree with you..you need to be nicer about it. But really, I don't think you care about that. I don't think you care about people agreeing with you. You just want to argue all the time and want to seem like you're better than everyone by having the upper hand. | Frostbrand

Except it isn't what I said. You were being charitable, and I disabused you of that notion. Have you even looked at the Right Wing lately? Sure the number of people carrying racially tinged signs at stuff like Teabagger protests and all that was relatively small, but it's gotten worse. And let's not forget the underlying racism in stuff like the Birther conspiracy. http://www.alternet.org/rights/141587/racism_is_th... As comedian Christian Finnegan(sp?) put it (paraphrasing), "It's only a amtter of tiem ebfore the anti-health care debate gets boiled to 'Let's face it, he's colored.'"

Being wrong is one thing. DOING wrong is something else entirely. Let's look at the track during the 8 years Right Wingers ran this government; 9/11 was allowed to happen, Katrina wasn't responded to properly, contractors got paid but loads of money to do nothing while our troops got short changed, two war, one of which only recently started to look vaguely winnable, education standards lowered... I could go on for hours. How can you expect me, no how dare you ASK me to show respect to people who;ve done that kind of damage. If some kid from your neighborhood broke into your house, wrecked everything, and then demanded that you pay for it and accuse you of hating him if you called him out on it, would you respect him?
> If you want them to agree with you..you need to
> be nicer about it.
Tried that before. here and at other sites. The response of the same people who call me the names cerealkiller calls me now is to just clal me different names; weak willed, fence sitter, pansy, etc. They attack me for taking a strong position, then attack me for NOT taking one. It's lose-lose with these fudgeers.

Considering some of the things I've been right about in the past few years, everyone would be better off if I didn't. "I hate it when I'm right" was practically my mantra during the Bush II years.
P.S. Still waiting for your example of Left Wing racism. Oh, and stuff from fringe doesn't count. I want a mainstream American Left example. Bad taste jokes don't count either, it has to be blatant. | llamamama

Did I say left wingers are racists? I'm just checking because I'm pretty sure I didn't. I can't really argue if 9/11 was allowed to happen..considering how young I was. But he had only been president for not quite eight months when it happened.
Some Conservatives are racist..yes, that is true. But there are plenty that are not, right?
I can see your example of the kid breaking into my house. I think I would be very upset. I guess I just can't imagine myself getting as riled up about it as you do. But I got you.
Well, I think when people resort to name calling it is lame. I've noticed for the most part you don't do it unless you're feeling frustrated or if someone calls you a name first (correct me if I'm wrong). Seriously, it could be a nice debate but then people throw in names and it loses all credibility. I'm not sure why people would call you names for sitting on the fence..most people are fence sitters. You are a rare case of someone who is always decisive about these things. You're right he does want to just call you names.
I should have quoted all of this. | Frostbrand

I asked for an example of a Left Wing racist, because you said that some are. Instead, you deny you said what you said just today, on a public forum.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/10/august6.... He was warned, he did nothing. We could argue about whether that was mere incompetence, or if maybe his admin just figured they could use the fear generated by a successful Al Qaeda attack to push through their policies. Either way, the end result was the same; they used that fear to consolidate power and push through bad policies; which is a form of terrorism in itself as those policies would never have been accepted by the American people if we weren't scared.
> Some Conservatives are racist..yes, that is true.

I think plenty is being generous, but there are some individuals on the Political Right in America who are not racist. But it's a statistically small enough number that I can still use the phrase "Right Wingers are racist" comfortably.

Which isn't a good thing. It's a very narrow existence with no room for growth. The "middle ground" is where things stagnate. I have no problem with settled issues being in the middle ground, but for stuff that's still up in the air...

You should give it up. Arguing with Frostie is like you said - talking to a wall. His mind is programmed and he is a robot who cannot think beyond what he believes in. Continuing will just raise your blood pressure, which he accuses me of doing to him and why he filtered me.

Err.. sorry to do this again Brian, but Simon Pegg has never been in Torchwood. What you're thinking of is the first series of the reboot of Doctor Who in which he played The Editor in the episode "The Long Game".
For the record, Gloucestershire does border Wales, but I've never thought of it as being tinged with Welsh. It's more of a West Country accent. | Frostbrand

I noticed something, beside llamamama being sarcastic (Just Kidding) about gay marriage; gays get married at a late age, maybe because gays are people who follow mostly their sexual needs more than straight people, and they dont have responsibilities - having kids and taking care of them and watching them getting old and married. So they prefer to pass their life getting involved in relations, having boyfriends and sex, until they get older in age and, almost, loose their sexual attraction (both attracting and being attracted), then they choose someone to love and share with the rest of years they have before they die, so they get married of them. Correct me if I am wrong please.
